Brighton close-in on Brereton Díaz

Graham Potter could be set to welcome much-needed offensive reinforcements into the Brighton first-team after the club has closed-in on Blackburn’s Chilean international forward Ben Brereton Díaz.

A report in the by stated that Brighton is on the verge of completing a deal for the Stoke-born Chilean forward who has been in red hot form this season for Rovers, bagging 17-goals in just 21-appearances for the Ewood Park outfit.

Brereton Díaz has exploded this term for Blackburn, putting in the best statistical return of his career since breaking into the first-team set up at Nottingham Forest in 2016-17.

Brighton desperate for a win

The hot start to the season at the Amex under Graham Potter has ground to a halt for . The Seagulls have failed to earn a single three-point haul since their 2-1 win over Leicester back on matchday 5 which was part of their quick start out of the gates when they posted a 4-0-1 record.

But as usual, consistent production in the final third has become the Achilles heel of the Seagulls as it was the season before, and currently have only managed just 14-goals in 15-matches while drawing five of their last six.

The key attacking tandem of Neal Maupay and Leandro Trossard constitutes the bulk of the goalscoring for Brighton this season, with the pair accounting for nine goals in the Premier League between them, with only four other goalscorers making themselves known in Alexis Mac Allister (2), Danny Welbeck (1), Enock Mwepu (1), and Shane Duffy (1).

A deal for Ben Brereton Díaz could afford a credible front-three for Potter of Maupay, Brereton Díaz, and Trossard, which should be good enough – at least on paper – to try to fire the Seagulls back to winning ways.
