Reinforcements in attack
Tottenham have reportedly joined the race for AC Milan striker Krzysztof Piatek, following Harry Kane’s recent hamstring injury.
Spurs were rocked by the injury to Kane during their clash with Southampton on New Year’s Day.
The Englishman stretched for a cross during the latter stages of the game, seemingly pulling his hamstring.
Tottenham then confirmed the extent of Kane’s injury a couple of days later.
They revealed: ‘Following assessment today (Friday), we can confirm that Harry Kane suffered a tear in his left hamstring during our New Year’s Day fixture against Southampton.’
Now, as a result of Kane’s injury, Tottenham are looking for a new striker and may have found one in Krzysztof Piatek.
Tottenham targeting Piatek
According to the Guardian, Spurs have joined the chase for AC Milan’s Krzysztof Piatek.
The Polish striker impressed when he first joined the club, but following Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s return, he could find his time on the pitch limited.
According to the Guardian’s report: ‘Tottenham will push to sign a striker this month as they react to the long-term absence of Harry Kane and they have joined the chase for Milan’s Krzysztof Piatek.’
They are not the only Premier League club interested, though.
Newcastle and Aston Villa are also cited with an interest in Piatek.
Though, all clubs would prefer a loan move, while Milan want to sell and would be willing to ‘if they can recoup the £30m they paid to take him from Genoa last January.’
As pointed out by the Guardian, it remains to be seen whether Milan budges on either their price or structure of deal before the end of the transfer window.
